Three new attorneys are joining the Richmond workplace of Sands Anderson Pc, bringing their practices in bankruptcy and creditors rights, firm President M. Pierce Rucker announced these days.
Roy M. Terry, Jr., John C. Smith and Elizabeth L. Gunn from Durrette Crump PLC are bringing important expertise and client representation as Trustees, debtors counsel and creditors counsel to the bankruptcy and creditors rights team of the firms Company Group.

Terry is a Chapter 7 Panel Trustee of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division, and has represented both companies and people as debtors and creditors under all chapters of the Bankruptcy Code for more than 30 years. He earned his law degree at the University of Richmond, where he was a member of the Law Evaluation and received the American Jurisprudence Book Award for Bankruptcy. His undergraduate degree is from the College of William and Mary.
Smith focuses on bankruptcy, creditors rights, federal receiverships, and enterprise and tax law, such as representing creditors, debtors-in-possession and bankruptcy trustees in litigating all manner of bankruptcy issues. In addition, Smith is a Certified Public Accountant. He earned his law degree magna cum laude from Boston College where he served as an Articles Editor on the Boston College Environmental Affairs Law Journal. He earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Fredonia.
Gunn represents closely-held corporations, their owners and executives, as well as individuals with complicated financial situations, such as bankruptcy. She earned her law degree cum laude from Boston College Law School, where she served as Solicitations and Symposium Editor of the Boston College International and Comparative Law Assessment. She earned her undergraduate degree in Politics and Economics cum laude from Willamette University.
The arrival of the lawyers will also mean four new staff will join Sands Anderson, two paralegals and two expert assistants, also from the Durrette Crump firm.
